Centre declared the CPI-Maoist a terrorist organisation

On Monday, the Union Home Ministry has brands CPI-Maoist as terrorist organisation.
The notification, declaring Communist Party of India-Maoist as a terrorist organisation.

West Bengal's ruling Left Front on Monday said it was against banning the CPI (Maoist) and will counter such outfits politically, days after chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee stated that his government will give a serious thought to proscribing the Naxals.

Reacting to the ban on the Maoists, CPM general secretary Prakash Karat has said that it will not help any purpose.

Meanwhile, after a day mainly combing the surrounding areas, the security forces will on Monday attempt to open up several fronts on the Galtore route towards Lalgarh for easy movement of troops.
